JIM PERRY
Welcome

Dateline 2009:

Greetings. Lots o'stuff. Freedomsong2 is booked for October 18th. We hope to raise more money for Massachusetts Veterans Inc. than we did at last year's Freedomsong fundraiser. Entertainment will be Doctor Robert, Cathy's Clown and 9Teen. A great dance party. Of course, we'll have the raffle, plus food and beverages. The ticket price remains the same as last year. Check out the official website here.
Let me see........Don't forget about my CD's. 2003's Moment of Truth, 2007's Blueprints of Ruins, and 2008's 12 Bars tonight. And then there is the Hothouse CD's. 2002's Melting Pot, 2005's Pocket Change, and 2007's Choice Cuts. Either contact me through this website, or go to www.cdbaby.com and type in my name. You can purchase my stuff (not Hothouse's) there. I'll be carrying them around to various gigs, too. Oh by the way, I am now working on another one. It should be done by the fall.
Speaking of Hothouse, we had a great time playing at last year's Freedomsong benefit, so there may be an increase in gigs with them in '09. In the gig dept., Doctor Robert is busier than ever. It seems like classic rock is the way to go. Doc Rob has been together now for , ummm, let's see..... 4 years, going on 5? I think. Anyway, we STILL have not had an argument amongst the band menbers. A true democracy.
Oh. A few more things...... Anytown USA, the musical, could be worked on this year. '08 was so preoccupied with organizing (and worrying about) Freedomsong, that the musical became the 'forgotten' project. I'll try to change that Then there is the Sunday blues jam at Greendales, which is really happening. Right place, right time. Big crowds have been streaming in every week. Some of our fantastic features have been George McCann, Shakey Steve, Chet Williamson, Lisa Marie......well, you get the idea.
One more thing: The Silverbacks will continue to play. Like Cliff Goodwin said, doing gigs with the SB's is like 'going to the well'. It really reminds us of where it all came from.
Meanwhile, check the schedule page for the latest gigs.

Solo CD's on CD Baby and ITunes!

All of my music is now available through CD Baby. This great webstore also distributes music to many downloadable sites, including ITunes, so you can also purchase my music at those sites. Here;s the link for the CD Baby Moment of Truth  page, and here's the one for Blueprints of Ruins. Now, as of March 2008, I have a link fomy 3rd solo CD, "12 Bars Tonight." And please, when you visit, even if you don't buy, take a moment to listen to a few samples, and write down your thoughts in the form of a review at the bottom of the page. Thanks!
Oh, and by the way, both CD's are also available at Jelly's Discs in Worcester.

'Blueprints' gets rave review!

July 15, 2007 - The Worcester Telegram's Scott Mclennan (who has been unfortunately let go by the newspaper) praised 'Blueprints of Ruins' in his column. Many thanks to him. Check it out right here. He really seemed to understand where I'm coming from with this project. '09 sees America saying goodbye to George W Bush. Good riddance. Go Obama!

WE WON!

March 30, 2007; We won! In the annual Worcester Magazine local music awards (Turtle Boy Music Awards), Doctor Robert won in the category of Best Cover Band! Pretty cool. We're all very proud. That's not all, though. I placed second in the Best Blues Musician category, behind the great John Short. And finally, Hothouse won the 'write in' vote in Best Blues/R&B/Swing Band. So, there you have it! A good year for recognition of my music.

ANYTOWN USA getting noticed!!!

There has recently been some interest in the musical, 'Anytown USA', by some local theater producers. One in particular is really impressed, and is helping us refine the plot and characters. Although the project is taking alot of time to be considered finished, it is a long road towards what will hopefully be a rousing success. Read more on the 'Anytown USA' page.
